Putting influence to work - the right way
At SXSW this year, a group of bloggers, authors, technologists, speakers, consultants and artists rallied to raise support for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan.
Our goal: To raise as much as we could, with as little selfish interest as possible. We started with a goal of $10k. Then we raised it to $50k. We were joined by SXSW Leaders, the City of Austin, and the world as we raised the bar to $130k. We reached out to the music community at SXSW and Hanson streamed a live telethon for 12 hours on this site.
So far, we've raised over $105,000 in online donations for Red Cross Earthquake and Tsunami relief in Japan. We've also driven tens-of-thousands of dollars in text donations to the Red Cross since we started on March 11, 2011.
Today, the sky's the limit. Here's how you can help:
1. DONATE - Make a donation here on this website.
2. SHARE - Mention #sxsw4japan or #sxswcares on the web and on twitter to help spread the word.
3. CREATE A FUNDRAISING PAGE - Start one for yourself, your school, company, church, club, team or organization!. Read tips for it here.
4. SPONSOR SXSWcares - Contact Rob at firstname.lastname@example.org for corporate sponsorships!
We can make a difference now to impact devastated lives in Japan.
